DUBAI — The Dubai Public Prosecution referred a driver to the Court of First Instance recently to stand trial on the charge of raping a runaway maid.

After concluding the investigation into the case, Deira Chief Prosecutor Youssef Mohammed Foulaz framed the rape charge against the 27-year-old Pakistani driver.

According to the prosecution arraignment sheet, the driver raped the 25-year-old woman who had just run away from her sponsor.

The maid told the prosecutors that on that day, she left her sponsor’s house and wanted to go to a police station.

She hailed a cab driven by the defendant. She asked  him to drop her at the nearest police post but he drove instead to a sandy location in Ras Al Khor where he parked the vehicle and jumped onto the back seat.

He said he wanted to have sex with her but she refused.

He then beat her up, pulled her pants down and raped her. She said she lost her virginity in the process.

He then headed to the Naturalisation and Residency Department in Al Aweer where he asked her to step off. They had a fight and the police arrested them.

According to the report of the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence dated April 6, the housemaid was raped and lost her virginity in the incident.

The prosecution said in its remarks presented to the court that the defendant gave contradictory statements during investigation. He claimed once that he knew the woman before that day and had sex with her before. He later said that he met the maid for the first time on March 23 and admitted to raping
her.
