Dubai: Residents using public transport in Dubai are crying foul over the lack of taxis during the evening hours as taxi drivers refuse to pick them up on the pretext of changing shifts.

Through this Center, which is supervised by Drivers Affairs Department, RTA Public Transport Agency, the RTA seeks to raise the bar on the traffic safety of the taxi service as well as the quality of services delivered to passengers in a bid to clients happier.

Dubai: Dubai’s taxi fleet just got greener as Cars Taxi has brought in 28 hybrid vehicles to join the 20 cabs launched last year by the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Dubai Taxi Corporation. The vehicles were launched on Tuesday.

The opening of the Metro Green Line this week is a boon for passengers - but it has left taxi drivers undecided on whether it will harm or help their daily incomes. Some cabbies said their intake of fares dropped by as much as 25 per cent after the Red Line opened two years ago.

Dubai taxis improved in terms of performance in the second half of 2009, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Monday. The total number of trips travelled by franchise company vehicles was in excess of 36 million during the final six months of last year; an approximate increase of 1.8 million trips compared to the first six months of 2009.
