Commenting on the move, engineer Ahmed Khalfan Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Dubai Taxi Corporation, said: “In implementation of the agreement signed of late with ‘Tejari’ during GITEX 2013, the DTC has embarked on the practical implementation of this agreement by starting the sale of second-hand taxicabs through the central online auctions e-portal branded ‘Ehlal’, which provides the public with a simple, accessible and transparent mechanism for submitting their bids onto DTC’s portfolio to buy more than 1,500 taxicabs dispensed with every year.
‘Tejari’ Company has set the technological platform and support for the auctions which will be scheduled on a regular basis for online offering, where used taxicabs will be awarded to the highest bidder in a process that allows potential buyers to offer real time bids online.
“The DTC seeks to continually improve all aspects of services & operations by capitalizing on innovative information technology, and this project stands out as clear testament to our determination to revamp and streamline activities & services of the smart selling of assets experience. The whole process is controlled via a central online auction e-portal, and the procedure of calling auctioned vehicles and registering potential bidders is completed instantly and directly for the auctions which will be held regularly for buying second-hand cabs from the DTC,” added Al Suwaidi.
