Starting today, taxi drivers in the capital are being warned to watch their speed – because an automated fining system will be, too. TransAD, the hired-car regulator, said in a memo to the taxi franchisees last Tuesday that new speed limits would be imposed starting today, monitored through the tracking and dispatch centre.
Exclusive taxis for women -- ladies' taxis, as they will be known, are expected to hit the streets of Abu Dhabi by the end of March. The announcement was made by TransAD, the centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars in Abu Dhabi, a division of Abu Dhabi Department of Transport.
Dubai: A Pakistani taxi driver was hit by an Emirati man who was under the influence of alcohol on Monday morning. According to the traffic department of Dubai Police, the taxi driver was dropping off a passenger at Palm Jumeirah and was hit by a drunk motorist.
Dubai Taxi Corporation is teaming up with the Dubai Police General Headquarters to deliver awareness lectures to a group of cabdrivers about crashes and traffic offences, and how to minimise them. Ammar Bin Tameem, Director of Fleet Drivers Affairs Department at Dubai Taxi Corporation said in a press release on Friday: “DTC is continuously cooperating and coordinating with the General Head Quarters of Dubai Police to hold such lectures and educative workshops in various topics".
