DTC, Al Dobowi sign deal for supply of Korean tyres
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), represented by the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), has recently signed a contract with Al Dobowi for the supply of South Korean’s Hankook Tyres for taxicabs. The contract runs for two years subject to renewal, and the approximate contracted value for the first year is AED 10,558,195.
Dubai Taxi fits cabs with child seats
The campaign, which runs for three months, aims at advancing the awareness of the importance of using child seats onboard taxis for the safety of children as well as the peace of mind of their family members during their daily travels.

Some features will be in 3D. Visitors to Dubai can now plan their daily travel in advance by using the RTA Journey Planner (Wojhati) which will eventually integrate the various mass transit systems such as the metro, public buses, water bus and water taxi.

RTA offers attractive number plates for motorbikes
The RTA is offering 8,000 distinguished four and five-digit number plates for motorbikes. These plates are obtainable through the RTA portal, customer service centres, service providers and auto dealers. The move is primarily aimed at making bikes attractive to a larger segment of the community.
Dubai Taxi profits rise 11% to Dh114 million: Al Tayer
The gross revenues of the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) soared to Dh864.341 million in 2010 compared to Dh798.837 million in 2009 with its taxi fleet running 82 million trips, lifting 164.7 million passengers last year, Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said on Saturday.
Petrol remains scarce, hard drive in Sharjah
Sharjah’s summer of motoring discontent simmers with petrol stations running dry for the fourth week in a row. All of oil retailer Enoc’s petrol stations in the emirate were closed from Friday after the company failed to meet a 72-hour deadline set by the Sharjah Executive Council.
Public transport still not the first choice for youth
Though 25 pc of the public transport users in the UAE are within the age group of 18 to 25, majority of youngsters continue to opt for cars as their primary mode of transport. According to a recent survey, 66 per cent of new car buyers in the UAE falls in the age group of 18-29 years, 61 per cent of which are first time buyers.
