New Salik tolls could be key source of cash for Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has refused to comment on media reports it plans to add two Salik toll gates to the city’s roads, bringing the total number in the emirate to six. The gates, which charge drivers AED4 each time they pass through, were launched in July 2007 under a plan to cut down congestion on Dubai’s roads.

While coming into land, the Airbus A330-200 pilot spotted another aircraft already on the same runway and took off immediately after initially touching down. “Emirates flight EK 523 from Trivandrum to Dubai landed at 0722 on November 7, 2010. More than 36 million trips were taken by cabs in the emirate in H2, two million more than in the first haldf of the year, the Roads and Transport Authority said in a statement.
