Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has no plans to introduce new Salik toll gates to the city’s roads or to increase the cost at each gate, a senior executive said. Emirati taxi operators in Dubai have been awarded a payment of AED26.4m ($7.17m) by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to help buffer rising living costs. UAE nationals who own properties within current paid parking zones in Dubai are to be given free permits, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said on Sunday. The second phase of introducing dedicated bus and taxi lanes in Dubai will take place in the second half of this year, transport chief Mattar Al Tayer said on Monday. The chairman and executive director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said phase two will see 1km of Naif Road and 1km of Al Ittihad Road being changed to help the flow of public transport.
